As Firefly Music Festival was soon approaching, my team, Firefly Attractions was working hard on securing all of our vendors who would become a part of the festival experience. After returning to my desk one day after a meeting, I had an e-mail informing that my team’s Firefly travel had been changed from July 14th-23rd to July 6th-23rd. You can imagine how surprised I was that I was now going to be gone for nearly three weeks! My attractions team was chosen to leave early to assist the production company that Red Frog had hired to really bring Firefly to life.
The next day, the owner of the production company wanted to have a meeting with our team to prepare us for what kind of work we would be doing. We were all waiting in the fifth floor conference room when she walked up to the door. She stood there staring at our team of six girls with her mouth open in shock. The first words that came out of her mouth were “I requested ten guys to help.” To say she was surprised that Red Frog was sending them six of us girls was an understatement. We then spent the rest of the meeting reassuring her that we could handle whatever tasks they threw our way. After the meeting, we could tell she was still apprehensive but we were ready to show her what Red Frog girls were really made of.

By the end of the first week setting up Firefly, it was safe to say that the production company crew was more than pleased with us. We had helped unload all 5 of their semi-trucks of lighting, equipment, furniture, tools, and much more. We put together large wooden bars in The Brewery, carried heavy barrels to The Vineyard, delivered furniture into the VIP tent, wrapped trees with fabric in the pathway, and helped build the giant Firefly entry sign (yes, I went up in the jig lift… it was scary!) In the end, the production crew was like family. The initial meeting with them became an on-going joke amongst us. We were happy to say that we proved their expectations wrong.
Here at RFE, it truly does not matter if you are tall, short, girl, boy, you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to. We taught the production company not to judge us Red Frog Girls from what you see because we will take you by surprise! So do not underestimate yourself; don’t let others defy who you are and what you can be!
